Liquid Solvent Acidic Detergent for Cleaning and Brightening Aluminum Surfaces
TECH BULETTIN [PDF]    MSDS
T.C. 769

DESCRIPTION

T.C. 769 is a liquid solvent acidic material designed for cleaning and brightening aluminum transportation equipment such as fleet trucks, buses and trailers. It also finds application on a variety of other aluminum surfaces including castings and extrusions, siding and small parts. In addition to carefully formulated brightening agents. T.C. 769's detergent and solvent properties give it outstanding cleaning action. Soiled, dull, discolored aluminum bodies can be cleaned and reconditioned in a single operation. Even when there are heavy grease deposits, a separate pre-cleaning operation can usually be eliminated.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

For Cleaning and Brightening Transportation Equipment

Mix a solution of T.C. 769 at 5 to 25% by volume of water at 60° to 100°F (16° to 38°C). Spray or brush on pre-wet surfaces, working from the bottom up, and allow to soak for about five minutes. A light foam will be noticeable. Agitate this foam with a long-handled brush and follow with a pressure rinse.

For Soak Tank Cleaning and Brightening of Small Parts

Mix concentrations of T.C. 769 at 10 to 25% by volume of water at 60° to 100°F (16° to 38°C) and immerse work. Immersion time will vary with the type and degree of soils present. Exposure time should be limited to that required for a particular job. Holding tanks should be constructed of special wood, rubber-lined steel or antimonial lead.

NOTES ON USE

T.C. 769 should not be used on aircraft surfaces.

Avoid contact with glass, ceramic and concrete. If contact is made, rinse surface (including windshields) promptly and thoroughly with water. Avoid contact or mixing with chlorine-releasing materials.

Safety and Handling Precautions

T.C. 769 is a highly acidic material containing hydrofluoric acid and phosphoric acid. Direct contact causes burns of eyes and skin. It is harmful if swallowed or inhaled. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Wear safety goggles, rubber gloves and other suitable protective clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling. Use with adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing vapors or mist. Do not take internally.

First Aid In Case of Contact

Immediately flush eyes or skin with large quantities of cool water for 15 to 30 minutes. Hold eyelids apart while flushing to insure contact of water with all surfaces of eyes and lids. For eyes, get prompt medical attention. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash them before reuse. If swallowed, wash out mouth thoroughly with water. Give water to drink without delay. Follow with milk or two fluid ounces (60 milliliters) of milk of magnesia. Seek medical attention. If inhaled, remove from exposure. In case of severe overexposure, seek medical attention.

KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

DISPOSAL

Solutions of T.C. 769 should be neutralized to a pH of 6 to 8 with a mild alkali, diluted and discharged in accordance with Federal, State and Local regulations. Rinse container thoroughly with water before disposal.
