Liquid Alkaline Detergent for Transportation Equipment General Maintenance Cleaner
TECH BULETTIN [PDF]    MSDS
T.C. 4080

DESCRIPTION

T.C. 4080 is a non-viscous, pale yellow liquid with a mild aromatic odor. It is an aqueous-based blend of detergent alkalis, sequestering agents, and synthetic wetting and cleaning compounds.

T.C. 4080 is used for cleaning transportation equipment, including aircraft, truck, bus, railroad and automotive. Also, it is effective for the spray cleaning of engines and machinery, as well as for general maintenance cleaning of floors, and other in-plant surfaces. This product produces good sudsing action for exceptional coil penetration and lifting action.

PROPERTIES

T.C. 4080 is amenable to dilution with water as well as napthas or kerosene. It has good sequestering ability for use in hard water areas. It rinses completely. Solutions of T.C. 4080 are moderately high foamers.

The pH values of working solutions of this product at 68°F run in the neighborhood of 10.5 to 11.0. The concentrated material will form "slush" at temperatures around 32°F, but it will reconstitute completely on thawing and agitating. The specific gravity at normal room temperatures is about 1.031 (8.6 lbs/gal). Solutions of T. C. 4080 are safe for use on steel, stainless steel and aluminum. They may produce slight staining on brass, zinc and time and slight attack on magnesium.

CONDITIONS OF USE

For cleaning engines and other transportation equipment, apply by foamizer, spray, siphoning educator or mop. For hot surfaces, pre-wet before applying the cleaner. Concentrations may be from 1 to 3% by volume, although higher concentrations are feasible if indicated by severity of soils. Solution temperatures range from ambient to 140°F. For faster action on heavy accumulations of oils and grease, or for carbonized soils, smoke tracks and exhaust stains, use a mixture of one part T.C. 4080, one part water, and four to ten parts of kerosene, naptha or aromatic petroleum hydrocarbon solvents.

For floor and general maintenance cleaning, and cleaning of painted, aluminum and other surfaces, T.C. 4080 is applied as desired by conventional methods. Concentrations and temperatures will vary depending upon the extent and nature of the soils to be removed.
